Using it
This is the most common reason people
give up on tongue cleaning. TUNG's head is deliberately low-profile, so it's designed to let you reach the back
of the tongue - where odour concentrates - with far less chance of triggering the gag reflex. Start mid-tongue
for the first few days and work backwards as you get used to it.
Once a day, after brushing. It takes
about twenty seconds. Some people add a second pass in the evening.
It varies from person to
person. If nothing changes after a couple of weeks, see your dentist, because persistent bad breath can have
other causes.
Yes. TUNG Kids has a smaller brush and a strawberry gel made for children, both available from The House of Mouth™. Supervise young children while they brush, and check the pack for age guidance.
Rinse it thoroughly under running water
after each use and let it air dry, the same as a toothbrush.
The product
A toothbrush is built for flat,
hard enamel. The tongue is soft and textured, and a toothbrush's bristle pattern and head shape aren't designed
to lift a coating out of crevices. Research comparing purpose-built tongue cleaners with toothbrushes found a
small but statistically significant advantage for the tongue cleaner in reducing the sulphur compounds behind
bad breath (Cochrane review, Outhouse et al.). The trial base is small and short-term, so we don't call it
clinically proven.
A scraper works
flat across the surface. Because the tongue is textured, the bacteria sit below that surface, in the crevices.
TUNG uses short, firm bristles designed to reach into them rather than skim across the top.
The brush lifts the
coating; the gel is formulated to neutralise the compounds that cause the odour and helps the brush glide
comfortably. Most people start with the brush and add the gel once they've felt the difference.
